  • Who can book a COVID test? +

  • What accreditation does your test and laboratory have? +

    The Clarigene™ SARS-CoV-2 test is CE-IVD so complies with European in-vitro Diagnostic Devices Directive (98/79/EC). Our laboratory is ANIVISA and CQC registered. Our laboratory works to good clinical practice (GCP) requirements.

    The Yourgene Genomic Services COVID-19 testing and sequencing service is ISO15189:2012 accredited.
  • Is your testing impacted by the recently discovered variants? +

    Following wet lab testing, it is confirmed that the performance of the Clarigene™ SARS-CoV-2 assay is not impacted by any strains circulating at high levels in the population including the VUI-202012/01, 20H/501Y.V2, 20J/501Y.V3, 20C/S:452R or 20A/S:478K strains. As new variants are identified, the Company conducts both detailed in silico (computer) analysis and wet lab testing of the mutations to assess the reliability of the Clarigene SARS-CoV-2 test and will confirm any impact once results are in.
  • What assay do you use to perform the test and what is the performance data? +

    The service uses Yourgene Health’s Clarigene™ SARS-CoV-2 assay which is a real time RT-PCR-based assay used to detect SARS-CoV-2 viral RNA targets to confirm the presence of the virus. Clarigene™ has high accuracy with >99.9% specificity*. Clinical sample testing presented 100% concordance when compared to gold standard reference** The test has excellent sensitivity and precision; results are in concordance with an international external quality assessment panel.

    *In silico analysis did not identify any potentially amplifiable targets in other respiratory pathogens.

  • What is the turnaround time for the test? +

    Yourgene Health’s COVID-19 testing service offers a 24-48 hour turnaround time to fit your sample testing requirements. Our lab opening hours for sample receipt are Monday to Friday, 6am to 10pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am to 5pm.
  • What type of samples are required, and can I perform the test on myself? +

    Our test requires oropharyngeal/nasopharyngeal combined swabs. Click here for instructions on how to correctly perform self-swabbing
  • Once my business/organisation has set up an account, how can I place an order for test kits? +

    Please refer to the user guide provided on set-up of your account for details on how to order test kits.
  • Once my business/organisation has obtained test kits, how do I send them to your laboratory? +

    After a sample is collected, please ensure all accurate information is uploaded to your server/YGH partner server. Samples must then be sent to our laboratory via post, courier or delivery between the hours of 6am and 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 5pm Saturday to Sunday. If a sample manifest is not received, samples will be quarantined until one is obtained. For more information please refer to the User Guide provided on set-up of your account.
  • Where do I send my sample? +

    If you have not been provided with a postage label, please send your completed sample to: Yourgene Health UK, FAO COVID Laboratory, Citylabs 1.0, Nelson Street, Manchester, M13 9NQ.
  • How do I obtain my results? +

    Results are provided in a Yourgene Covid-19 Genetic Analysis Report or a bespoke software solution so that reports can be generated by our partners. Reports may differ if you are using one of partners that integrate our results into their reporting systems.
  • I haven’t received the result from my PCR test? +

    Please contact your kit provider, we are unable to disclose any confidential information due to GDPR and Patient Confidentiality.
  • I need a PCR certificate and a fit to fly certificate, are these available? +

    We are unable to offer testing directly for individuals, we are currently working with a range of providers who can provide this service, please enquire about our current providers via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

    Yourgene Health is unable to issue fit to fly certificates or supplementary information in addition to the PCR certificate, these may be issued by our partners upon request.

    All enquiries about the services offered by our partners must be addressed directly with them. We are unable to communicate directly with individuals. Each country and airline have different polices regarding COVID-19 testing for travel, please see the relevant websites for guidance. Due to the varying and evolving nature of these guidelines, it is the responsibility of the client to determine the suitability of this assay for travel purposes, and Yourgene Health accepts no responsibility for travel disruptions caused as a result of using this test for travel purposes.
  • In the event of a positive result, who is responsible for informing Public Health England? +

    Yourgene works with and sends results daily to Public Health England.
  • How do we provide patient details and can we anonymise patient data? +

    Bespoke solutions are available for partner companies and we can work with your software teams to find the best solution for you. Yourgene electronic manifests can also be completed and sent it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. before the samples are received by the laboratory. Yes, you can anonymise patient data, we typically require two matching sample identifiers, you can either provide the name and date of birth of the patient, or a ‘subject ID’ (e.g. an alphanumerical 6 digit code of your choice e.g. ABC123) and date of birth which will appear on your PCR report.
